Róbert Károly
For a long time local history writing thought that Palota castle was built in the middle of the 15th Century by the Kont family. Excavations and written documents found meantime let us assume a much earlier origin. After the death of Máté Csák on the 18th March 1321 King Károly Róbert forced the sons of István of the Csák clan to had over Gesztes, Csókakő, Csesznek, Ugod and Bátorkő castles together with their territories to the Treasury.
