Barrage
BARRAGE
Beside the road between Várpalota and Veszprém, on the outskirts of Öskü and Várpalota at the edge of the Bántapuszta fields we can see the dam-like remains of the onetime barrage. Until now scientists have thought it to be of Roman origin and doubts regarding this have only seen light recently. Some experts place its origin in the Middle Ages to the time of the Újlakis who built Palota castle in the 15th Century.
