FULLERS, SZŰR-TAILORS
In the 18th Century and the beginning of the 19th .Century the most famous branch of industry was that of the fullers. With the increase in the number of animals more and more herdsmen and shepherds were employed who needed subas (long sheepskin coat), szűrs (long embroidered felt coat) and haversacks. So the number of fullers, szűr-tailors as well as that of fulling mills on the Pét and Inota brooks increased. Felt from the fulling mills went back to the szűr-tailors in Palota who prepared the famous Bakony ornamented szűr.
A special branch of fullers was the guba-fuller who prepared clothes from long tresses of wool.
