The town is located beside Route 8 half way between Székesfehérvár and Veszprém. It can be accessed equally by road, railway and coach. It is 90 km from Budapest and 20 km from lake Balaton.
Várpalota railway station is on the Budapest-Szombathely main line. It is the main starting point for tourists on foot and by bicycle.
