The region belongs to the catchment area of the Séd - Nádor water system.
Water output of flowing waters is not significant.
Still waters, of which there are relatively many in the area, are mostly mining ponds that came about because of coal mining and were formed over the past hundred years.
Examining subterranean waters it can be ascertained that the area is on the boundary of two hydro-geological regions. These two regions are the Bakony karst region and the layer water system of the Mezőföld. Várpalota's water supply comes mostly from the Bakony cavern water system. Cavern water is gained from wells drilled at Bánta.
