English Social history Independence of Pétfürdő    Independence of Pétfürdő   Initiative of independence for Pétfürdő district The "Szövetség Pétfürdő Önállóságáért" (Federation for the independence of Pétfürdő) social organization presented a signature collection form to the chief executive on the 8th February 1966 for the initiation of a referendum. The petition was to initiate the independence of Pétfürdő. The local referendum was valid and successful. At the proposition of the Minister of the Interior the town of Várpalota declared its Pétfürdő district to be Pétfürdő community as of the 1st October 1997. The changes had an adverse effect on the territory, property circumstances and financial conditions of operation in the future.
