English Social history Reform endeavours    Reform endeavours   Strives to reform council administration. By the end of the 1980s latent ideological divisions became evident. The Town Council held its last ceremonial assembly on 31st August 1990. As a result of the election of self-government representatives and mayors a four decade period of Hungarian public administration ended on 30th September 1990 and the terminated council system was succeeded by the new self-government system.
