 Cultural life in the past
Intellectual culture in Palota could not compete with old school towns. Amateur cultural groups formed from the end of the 1800s at the initiative of civilian population. Reading circles, artistic groups, craftsmen?s chorus, brass band, folk dance and puppet groups functioned in the settlement. Activity of movements organised by the church was also significant.
Teachers from different church schools played a big role in making extra mural intellectual life flourish.
